"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship masters have had one happy privilege: that of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony."
In TOS, Kirk was happy to marry two of his crewmen. In TNG, when Keiko and O'Brien were getting married, Data worried about finding a gift. So it's not unheard of for crewmen to marry.
Three years into the voyage, after the Narada, two crewmembers, Hikaru Sulu and Pavel Chekov, have decided to take the plunge.
The whole ship is a buzz.
In order to officiate well, Kirk did some researching and found something very, very strange. In the wake of the whole world-saving gig, the crew has become... famous. They're being written about. And not always in flattering ways. In fact, they seem to have developed a fandom.
Of course, no one can contain their curiosity.
So people are sending around snippets of fanfic- from awful to awesome, from G to triple-X.
So- who is shocked by who they're shipped with? Who was a secret member of fandom when they were younger? And who is still writing?
And in the end, do Sulu and Chekov pull it off, or do they decide there's a better ship for them?
Thanks to Bubbles for the inspiration.

Something I'm curious about. Earlier, when we were experimenting. When I was, you know, with your hands, it was kinda like I could feel it to. What was that?
Don't take this the wrong way, but I need to know this isn't some fever dream first. Let's get... more permanent before I go telling Jo.

Since when do you respect Kirk's privacy in any way? Weren't you the one who said that if he was going to be captain, he had to expect us to inspect his logs? And then encouraged me to draw comics about them?
You had me thinking he hurt her. And you were covering up for him.

It is low level touch telepathy. It is an involuntary touching of the minds between a Vulcan and another living being during physical contact. In full Vulcans it is a much stronger ability. I am unable to prevent it from happening at all. If this disturbs you, I apologize and will take steps to prevent a reoccurence.
If that is what you wish. She is your daughter, and it is your decision.

So, whenever we do stuff, if we're touching, I get to feel it from both sides? Do you feel what I'm feeling?
Well, we already told my first born and he took it okay, other than the weeping and "Little Jimmy" bullshit.

It was just his privacy, it was hers too. Your comics were really good, by the way. I still say you should get them published.
Look, I had my reasons for what I did, okay? You just have to trust me. And it all worked out for the best, because she told you a lot sooner than she would have otherwise and you didn't have to go through all that time of trying not to let her know you knew while she struggled with having to lie to you.

I do. I am generally able to construct barriers around my mind to filter out most of what I recieve, but something will always seep through. If you like, I could teach you to do the same.
I still do not understand his response to the news.

My comics were a giant anatomically correct testicle saying things like "Warp speed, Mr. Sulu, INTO HER PANTS!!!" I would lose all my jobs. They would retroactively fire me from SpaceArby's when I was 16.
Tony, what is really going on here? Do we, uh. You know how when Roger and I started sleeping together, we made it so he reports only to you? Do we need to do another reorganization?

That's a little freaky. If I was feeling sad and you touched me, it would effect you?
Jim's? Oh, he's always sure people are going to leave him, like a giant melodramatic baby. It's not personal.

They were funny, though.
You are far more perceptive than I trained you to be. For the record: when you're planning on doing something not entirely within the boundaries of the rules, it's generally considered a good thing to have the captain owe you a favor.

Yes, but I like this ship, it's exciting.
Who is it? Green? McKenna?

I would be able to sense that you were feeling sad, but would only be affected to a small extent. It would be as though you were to say you felt sad, but in a different form. One's feelings are still mutually independent of the other's.
Ah. Then he has abandonment issues.

Fair enough.
Uh, no. It's a bit more complicated than that. Can we not talk about this? I'll tell you later.

Oh. Okay. I think this is something we can play with, quite effectively. I like this.
To put it simply and mildly, yes.

Yeah, sure. I got some paperwork for you to look over, when you want. Reports on the casualties from last week are finally caught up on.

May I ask how?

Okay. I'll come pick them up in a moment.

Well. I have this theory that with a lot of patient work, I can break down some of those barriers of yours. And the more they tumble, the more of you I get to feel and vice versa. And if we break them down, say, before sex, it could be a more pleasurable experience for both of us.

An interesting theory, but Vulcan children begin constructing mental barriers at a young age. It could take quite some time to break through them successfully.
For the sake of honesty, this is the reason I do not like casual touch. It is unnerving to have someone else's thoughts or feelings suddenly intruding upon my own without warning.

I got time. I'm not going anywhere, darling, if you're not.
Does it work through clothes, then?

I had not intended to.
It is not quite as effective as skin upon skin, but strong emotions are able to break through, and humans are known for having very strong emotions.

So we'll break you down little by little, until you and I can feel each other. If you want to. You don't have to. It just seems, I don't know. Sexy?
Then when you were choking Jim, his fear and anger just fueled yours?
How did you never know I had the hots for you? You shoulda figured it, really.

I believe it would be an interesting experience.
It is possible. Strong enough emotions, such as strong fear and anger, can have an effect, but if they did, I did not notice. My own barriers had been shattered due to the.. preceding events. It took very little to destroy them.
I assumed that it was my own thoughts and desires influencing my perceptions.

Is "interesting" code for "hot" on your planet?
Yeah. I understand that. I've been meaning to say, that day. After you threw Kirk off the ship. I was out of line.
So you can't tell the difference between you and others?

You may interpret it that way if you choose.
You were, but throwing him off the ship was not exactly protocol. He still managed to return.
I can. I meant that I had assumed that I was interpreting what I discovered based on what I desired rather than what I had truly percieved. Even Vulcans lie to themselves sometimes, Doctor.
