I think we need a game. Because who actually works when they're at work anyway?

Therefore, I am pleased to inform all of you that you have been accepted to study at the
Enterprise High School of the Visual and Performing Arts.

It's April 5th and the Class of 2012 is looking forward to graduation. Now it's crunch time with finals, prom, and college admissions*. Senior year means BIG THINGS for our students. The annual Senior Showcase is going to happen on May 1st. And with just under a month until the big showcase, the faculty has announced that the student with the best artistic thingy will get a full ride scholarship to the Big Name Artsy College. Now the pressure is on to be the very best like no one ever was and the competition has pitted friend against friend (or has it?).

But with our students having to juggle their regular academic classes with their more specialized courses AND a social life, it's almost like a certain someone has combined the best of Fame and High School Musical: Senior Year. Clearly this means great things for plot our cast.

Suggestions for specialties for the students:
James Kirk: theatre
Leonard McCoy: harp (doctors are good with their hands, harpists are good with their hands IDK JUST GO WITH IT)
Nyota Uhura: voice
Janice Rand: art
Christine Chapel: dance
Montgomery Scott: film
Pavel Chekov: dance
Hikaru Sulu: theatre
Shawn Spock: art**
Gaila Orion: film

So who's overly emotional about their craft? Who creates an extraordinarily eccentric performance piece that leaves everyone else feeling vaguely uncomfortable even though they didn't understand it? Who angsts about no one TRULY UNDERSTANDING THEM? What other artistic stereotypes and high school cliches can we squeeze into this game before it dies? Who drops out? Who turns down an art school to go to a "real" college? MORE IMPORTANTLY: WHO IS DATING WHOM?

So sit down, grab a character and type up their texts, compose their emails, and pass their notes in the middle of class, because

it's high school muuuuuu-siiiiii-caaaaaaaaaaal high school never ends they're gonna live forever, they're gonna learn how to fly high--FAME! it's gonna be totally awesome friendship dies and true love lies

Oh screw it--READY, STEADY, GO!

* do not ask me why they are JUST NOW applying for colleges and auditioning and getting their acceptance letters okay it is ~MAGICAL MOVIE SCHOOL TIMING~ OKAY JUST GO WITH IT.
** I cannot be the only one who thinks "S'chn T'gai" visually resembles "Shawn the Guy," can I? Can I? BUELLER?

From the Sec'y of the Admiralty, His Lordship Admiral Richard Barnett,
In the service of Her Imperial Majesty, Majella Augusta II, Regina Albion and Its Colonies and Protectorates, the Year Imperial 2258.

To Captain Christopher Pike of Her Majesty's Star Ship Enterprise.

Sir,
You are requested and required to assemble your officers and repair to the shipyards of Riverside, Iowa, the British States of America.  Report there to your ship and proceed with all due speed to the Vulcanian System, there to offer aid and comfort to the allies of the Crown.  They have reported unexpected natural disturbances and it is the duty of all officers of the Admiralty to give assistance.  The appropriate intelligence is appended to these orders in a sealed missive not to be opened until HMSS Enterprise is en route to the Vulcanian System.

Yrs,
Admiral Ric. Barnett

***

In a second note, attached:

Pike:
You have been chosen for this based partly on your own merit and partly on that of your mixed-blood second.  Despite the secrecy, this should not unduly tax your officers, else we would not have such green ensigns within starleagues of such important allies.  I need not say that showing themselves well here can only improve their prospects.  Your radical proposals do your officers as much mischief as they do yourself and I am loath to see such as your translator or that young Hussar damaged by political manoeuverings.  Why you must choose the most embarrassing moments of recent Imperial history to champion, I can make no guess, but I advise you this as a friend.  That madman Kodoss is dead and neither the Crown nor Parliament will thank you for bringing the incident up again.
Behave for the politicals, impress the Vulcanians with Imperial grace and humanitarian ideals, and leave such matters to the social carers.

Yrs. Sincerely,
Ric. Barnett

post script.  I understand that ward of yours is showing himself the rake again.  His mother is a fine officer and his brother a respected voice at the Scientific Academy, but unless young Jas mends his ways, I do not doubt some more talented officer will be seeing him to the surgeon or the undertaker on the blade of a sword or blast of a phase pistol after a duel.

Our Heroes:

-On the Enterprise

Christopher Pike, Captain of HMSS Enterprise
Lord Schn-t'gai Spock, Commander of same, son of the Lady Amanda Grayson of Australia & His Lordship Sarek of Vulcan

Ensign Caroline McKenna, relief pilot
Midshipwoman Janice Rand, Captain's aide

There's a plage on Stameris, probably because of the bustling slave trade there.

The USS Enterprise, under command of Captain Nyota Uhura, has been dispatched to cure the disease, and see about closing that market if they can. (They can, command just KNOWS it.)

So Captain Uhura has decided to send her best scientists - her XO Dr Chapel and her nurse, McCoy, as well as Chief Engineer Gaila, for whom this whole "slave" business hits a little close to home.

Unbeknownst to them, the disease isn't airborne - it hibernates in fabric. (This makes sense in space.) And it has some... interesting effects on the crew.

Which is kinda the plot of The Naked Time, except no one is quite reacting the way they did there. Rather than becoming uninhibited, they've become polar opposites of themselves.

I would like to propose the following additional ranks:
Yeoman Kirk
Nurse McCoy
Ens. (jg) Pike
Ens. Sulu
Ens. Scott
Lt. Spock
Lt. Chekov
Lt. Cmdr. Gaila
Cmdr. Chapel
Cmdr. Rand
Cpt. Uhura
Admiral Number One

Hm. There seems to be a pattern there...

So, join me as we try to find a cure, people try to recover their selves, and someone figures out a reason why men are never promoted beyond Lt., but women and non-binarys are.

I hope you guys all had super restful holiday seasons. Because I'm here to make things interesting.

The story goes as this: Last night the ship was on its way to the Neutral Zone while the crew rang in the new year; Hells yeah, it's 2260!

Except when they woke up this morning they're lightyears away from that spot, the chronometers say it's 1/1/2261, and no one remembers a damn thing from the last year.

But there are changes. Oh, how there are changes.

WHY is Jim Kirk wearing a wedding ring and WHO has its mate?
WHY is there a baby in Pavel Chekov's quarters?
and uh
WHERE is half the security division?

Luckily they're headed towards Earth. Except command is insisting that Enterprise has spent the last 11 months on a deep undercover mission and they have no communications from the ship for that time. There are no personal logs or comm records. And no way in hell anyone is getting off that ship until they figure out what happened...
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
Okay, so I only vote in plot polls to see the results without clicking 8000 times and in the end you guys split the vote, 2-2 between options 1 and 3.

So I invited a friend over for "Indian Food" and when he got here I made him read all three of the plot summaries and tell me which was his favorite, and he landed on the side of... Plot #1: Prison AU!

THEREFOR. Without further me going BLAH BLAH BLAH:

The gang are all prisoners at Enterprise Federal Penn, under the watchful eye of warden Pike and his head guard, a stone-cold killer called Giotto.

Deprived of PADDs, they must communicate with graffiti, notes, and the occasional game of telephone. Purple Monkey Dishwasher. They are plotting an escape, but a wrench has been thrown into their plans in the form of a handsome prison doctor, name of McCoy, and a new prisoner who is asking way too many questions.

WHAT are they in jail for?
WHY do the guards seem to know their moves ahead of time?
WHO is getting stabbed with a toothbrush?
WHERE are my keys?
WHEN is this escape going to go off?
and HOW?

Because it's confusing:
Cell ds7: Chekov, prisoner #0246
Cell ds9: unknown male (Kirk?)
Cell ds8: Sulu, Prisoner #1690
Kirk: prisoner #1701
Gary: Prisoner #1337

Cell CZ42: McKenna
Cell CZ65: Chapel

So ds# for boy cells, cz# for girls for consistency?

Since no one else has done it...
Last time, on SFAAU:

1. Captain Pike's evil clone
2. The cat, Quin, and Suzy
3. Tony Giotto, fanboy
4. Nurse Ogawa, terror of the GP
5. Several relationship revelations
6. A missing spider
7. A very awkward proposal

Now, it's evening, the day Pike was rescued.  What are they going to do with the clone?

When we were last here, our kids were dealing with a few things:

-the aftermath of the earthquake and the capture of Sterling McGivers
-the ship in orbit around the Earth
-Matt's overseas amnesia
-probably something I'm forgetting
-a kittycat.

As we open, it's the day after we left. Pike is going up to that ship and Matt and frank and dealing and there is a kittycat apparently.

So get to it: Who's doing what at to whom?
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
We are in an old, abandoned Outback Steakhouse outside of Mesltone, Wyoming.

Doors and windows are boarded up. There is a thick layer of dust on every surface.

Because, in reality, this is not an old, abandoned Outback Steakhouse outside of Mesltone, Wyoming.

This is a place between. It is nowhere and yet everywhere. It doesn't even exist that much. But recently doors have been leading here. Doors on ships. Ships, of course, called Enterprise

The bartender, who is there and not there, is polishing glasses. The kitchen is stocked, but cold.

But, why? Why are the doors leading to an old, abandoned Outback Steakhouse outside of Mesltone, Wyoming? Why are people being brought here for only an hour, and then disappearing suddenly?

And are there any cheese fries?
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
It is our heroes' first Spring break.

Where are they?

Well.

-Caz and Tony are at his cabin.
-Jim and Bones are in the basement of the Academy Clinic where the door has become stuck.
-Kiki and Pav are with Kiki's family.
-Chrissie and Spock are at home.
-Pike and One are mid coitus. (when are they not?)
-Dave and Mia are in NJ
-Frankie and Matt are in Prague
-RLs are on duty- one at the station and one on patrol.
-Nyota and Jan are bowling.

And, as it turns out, a young man named Sterling McGivers is not happy. His sister, a young woman named Marla, was kidnapped a year and a half ago by the Bratva, under command of Andrei Chekov.

Sterling wants revenge.

He's fallen into bed with the Yakuza, the Japanese mafia, and has already tried one aborted plan to get at the gang. He's tried hacking into GP records a few times, but failed. He tried to target Pavel's sister, Christine, with a rogue robot, but it didn't go off.

He's got a better plan.

At 1400 on a Saturday, comm satellites will go down around the planet. At that exact moment, an earthquake will rock San Francisco. People will be trapped where they are, unable to communicate outside their immediate area. No one can talk to anyone not within about 20 feet of them.

As we open, it's 1359.

And the world is about to move.

Happy birthday S-T-DEEEEEEE!

So, ladies and gentlemen. AND WE DON'T GOT NO BOOOOOOOYSS HERE!

You are cordially invited to attend the event of the decade. EA'S HELL CLASS: THE 20 YEAR REUNION.

Our kids are between 37 and 39, off exploring the galaxy and being Big Damn Heroes. Some have had kids. Some are not where they thought they'd be.

We'll pick up a few hours before the even begins, so we can get some butterflies and nerves.

Lets do this sucker.
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
In the world you are entering, there is a Federation. There is an Enterprise. There is even a Captain Kirk.

But in this world, they are not as you know them.

George Lowther, 27, is the captain of the pirate ship known throughout the galaxy as the Enterprise. Of course, he's not the real George Lowther, and neither was the man before him, a fellow called Chris Pike. They're in the process of trading the identity, so Pike can retire, having made his fortune. The new Lowther, real name James T. Kirk, has hired on a crew, and they're off on their first voyage, affiliated with the Federation of Interstellar Pirates.

So. How's the crew doing? And, of course, who's fucking?
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship masters have had one happy privilege: that of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony."

In TOS, Kirk was happy to marry two of his crewmen. In TNG, when Keiko and O'Brien were getting married, Data worried about finding a gift. So it's not unheard of for crewmen to marry.

Three years into the voyage, after the Narada, two crewmembers, Hikaru Sulu and Pavel Chekov, have decided to take the plunge.

The whole ship is a buzz.

In order to officiate well, Kirk did some researching and found something very, very strange. In the wake of the whole world-saving gig, the crew has become... famous. They're being written about. And not always in flattering ways. In fact, they seem to have developed a fandom.

Of course, no one can contain their curiosity.

So people are sending around snippets of fanfic- from awful to awesome, from G to triple-X.

So- who is shocked by who they're shipped with? Who was a secret member of fandom when they were younger? And who is still writing?

And in the end, do Sulu and Chekov pull it off, or do they decide there's a better ship for them?

Thanks to Bubbles for the inspiration.

So.

It's Sunday, midday.

Caz and Jim are just coming back from their walkabout, and have not yet been arrested.
Roger and the RLs are still working with Soong on the robot situation.
Gaila and Chrissy are still working on Bones.

Finals start tomorrow.

Probably some other stuff is going on.

SO UH YEAH DO THAT.
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
It's time for something... light. Something... refreshing.

For the past year, Roger Korby and Andrea Sherrison have been building an android, Norm. And Norm has been, true to his name... normal.

But things are starting to go wrong. Andrea has been moved into the empty bed in Caz and Jan's room (oh, did I not mention that? WELL. It's there. Not a convenient plot device at all) and when Roger's rommmate dropped out, he and McCoy decided to move in together.

Now they're both starting to act weird. Of course, no one is normal, it's SFA and it's finals. But there's something seriously wrong, and our heroes are going to have to find out what.

Did I mention that the top four students in each class get to go on a special training exercise? Well, they do. And competition is hot.
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
Those of you who are familiar with the TOS episodes might remember the fantastic episode in which the Enterprise comes across a planet with 1920s gangster culture.

So, in gentle reboot fashion, Our Heroes are toddling along, being Heroes and Righting Wrongs and whatnot when they encounter a planet identical to Earth was. In 1969.

Why 1969? Well, my friends. 69 makes me giggle.

Also, 1969 had a lot of important events.
January 20 – Richard Milhous Nixon succeeds Lyndon Baines Johnson as the 37th President of the United States of America.
January 30 – The Beatles give their last public performance, on the roof of Apple Records.
April 4 – Dr. Denton Cooley implants the first temporary artificial heart.
June 3- British singer Elton John releases his first album, Empty Sky, in the United Kingdom
June 28 – The Stonewall riots in New York City mark the start of the modern gay rights movement in the U.S.
July 20 – Apollo program: The lunar module Eagle lands on the lunar surface. Neil Armstrong takes his first steps on the Moon.
August 9 – Members of a cult led by Charles Manson murder Sharon Tate, (who was 8 months pregnant), and her friends.
September 2 – The first automatic teller machine in the United States is installed in Rockville Centre, New York.
October 5 – Monty Python's Flying Circus first airs on BBC One.
November 10 – Sesame Street premieres on the National Educational Television (NET) network.
November 15 – Regular colour television broadcasts begin on BBC1 and ITV in UK.
December 1 – Vietnam War: The first draft lottery in the United States is held since World War II.

This was also the year that Women were allowed into the FFA and HIV first hit the United States.

Look at all that. So much that we take for granted. Imagine (all the people? Living side by side?) what a year like that would look like 300 years after, rather than 40. What amuses people, what horrifies them? And what just plain confuses them?
[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_samalander/
This morning, Number One Pike woke to the following message on her PADD:

I know, I know, I know, I'm supposed to wake you so you don't wake up cold and alone. You can pout at me all you want when you wake up. But it was early and you look so peaceful and after how upset you were last night I couldn't bring myself to. Just because I have to be up early to make sure my classes are taken care of doesn't mean you should be too. I'll make it up to you later. Promise.

See you tonight. I'll say hi to Cait for you. Take care of yourself.

-love
Chris

(At least I left a note this time. See? I'm getting the hang of this.)

Except, things have gone horribly, horribly wrong.

(A continuation of this game.)

Welcome back, romans and countrymen, to the Mirror!Universe of our HSAU.

So. Let's go back and visit out evil friends.

It's been a year since last we stopped over.

How is Scotty's Zombie project going?

How are Caroline and Suzy doing with Pike?

What are Gaila and Tony up to?

Find out inside. Or should I say... SINside?

Right, SO. It has been a harrowing three months for our guys. There've been ENTRANCE EXAMS and trying to make living arrangements and trying to keep up with each other even though ultimately a lot of them are going their seperate ways and STRESS (zzzz) and now... it is September. Today is the last day of Starfleet Academy's orientation week, and classes start tomorrow.

The new freshman are anxious to get started. The suspense hangs in the air.

And nearby, at HQ, Pike is cross. Why is he cross? Because Starfleet wants to do a thorough investigation into the time travel that occured several months ago on the Enterprise. This will take a while and they've delayed the launch (again...) indefinitely.

Poor Pike.

So, without further ado, the first part of the SHINY NEW Starfleet Academy AU.

(ALSO, rooming arrangements!

We've done insane can't-play-your-normals before.

So.

A long time from now, in a Universe very, very close:
All of our characters were born the opposite gender.

Christine Pike
Christopher Chapel
Antonia Giotto
Polina Chekova
Hikaru Sulu
Charles McKenna

You get the idea.

Out ladies are transporting a delegation of some people to some kind of event. These passengers come from a deeply misogynistic world - they barely acknowledge women, forget respect. There have been a number of pinched asses, suggestive hand motions and even some aspersions cast on the manliness of the men. (Jon Rand would like you to know that his hair is a mirror of his genitals - large and basket-shaped. IDK.)

And just to make your lives hard more interesting, you can't play any of your regulars.

The idea is not to play BRAND NEW characters, but to step away from the ones you love - try some others on, see how they fit. Lurkerrrrs, this is a great game for you, you can be ANYONE.

WHAT A TWIST!!
