New Game: Plot Gumbo
Jan. 13th, 2011 07:01 pmThere's a plage on Stameris, probably because of the bustling slave trade there.
The USS Enterprise, under command of Captain Nyota Uhura, has been dispatched to cure the disease, and see about closing that market if they can. (They can, command just KNOWS it.)
So Captain Uhura has decided to send her best scientists - her XO Dr Chapel and her nurse, McCoy, as well as Chief Engineer Gaila, for whom this whole "slave" business hits a little close to home.
Unbeknownst to them, the disease isn't airborne - it hibernates in fabric. (This makes sense in space.) And it has some... interesting effects on the crew.
Which is kinda the plot of The Naked Time, except no one is quite reacting the way they did there. Rather than becoming uninhibited, they've become polar opposites of themselves.
I would like to propose the following additional ranks:
Yeoman Kirk
Nurse McCoy
Ens. (jg) Pike
Ens. Sulu
Ens. Scott
Lt. Spock
Lt. Chekov
Lt. Cmdr. Gaila
Cmdr. Chapel
Cmdr. Rand
Cpt. Uhura
Admiral Number One
Hm. There seems to be a pattern there...
So, join me as we try to find a cure, people try to recover their selves, and someone figures out a reason why men are never promoted beyond Lt., but women and non-binarys are.

Ensign, do you have my reports on the nacelle alignment? You're not messing around with the transporter again, are you?

If you keep moving your coffee I can't make it also the latest data pack from command came through. Nothing immediately demanding.

Then move faster. If it's that unimportant, then I'll take a look at it after I'm done with going over all of these forms you keep sending my way. Has there been any word yet from the Stameris' Parliament about taking up our offer to send down some personnel with the supplies they've requested?

I think you're missing the point, seriously what did you do with the bag? It's not in any of the cupboards. Most of it looks like things they've already said, it can wait a few hours. I send you forms because you need to deal with them, not just because it's fun.
Parliament's wibbling. They won't give firm word yet, but they should cave by lunch.

If you moved faster, you'd be able to keep up with where I put it. It's over there, for the record. Oh goody, I love being told things over and over again. If I wanted to deal with paperwork, I would've stayed earthside and become a secretary.
Of course they are.

Doesn't help when I'm out of the room. Coffee doesn't go on your dresser. Well, oh so sorry but Captains have paperwork too and seeing as you're the Captain around here, you sorta have to do it because I'm not allowed to do it for you. Look, I annotated everything like usual, it's really not that bad.
Better than nothing.

Be ready to beam down with supplies no later than 1400. The Stameris look like they're starting to warm to our offer.

Coffee goes wherever I say it goes. You are so lucky you're actually a good yeoman, because otherwise I would have left you on the first planet we passed.

If you'd just leave it in the kitchenette like a normal person I could actually keep you properly caffeinated. Well, duh, I'm the best yeoman. Also you think I'm pretty.

It's my coffee. I'll leave it wherever I want. You're a decent yeoman. Just don't wear the skirt uniform variant ever again.

But you get cranky without it and I'm trying to fix that. I'm awesome. Hey, now, that's totally within regulation and saying I can't is taking away my rights.

According to you, I'm always cranky. The crew took a vote. They voted to never allow you to wear that uniform ever again. I'm not taking away your rights, democracy is. And the only reason you even did it was because Janice dared you, so don't act like it's a great affront to you that no one wants to see that much of your legs ever again.

Hence why i'm trying to fix it. Better for everyone. But it's still taking away my rights and I resent that and could file a complaint. Also a lot of people want to see that much of my legs thank-you-very-much.

Ummmm, I'm trying. And if you had not hid it, it would be done brewing by now. This is your lesson, Cap.
