"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship masters have had one happy privilege: that of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony."
In TOS, Kirk was happy to marry two of his crewmen. In TNG, when Keiko and O'Brien were getting married, Data worried about finding a gift. So it's not unheard of for crewmen to marry.
Three years into the voyage, after the Narada, two crewmembers, Hikaru Sulu and Pavel Chekov, have decided to take the plunge.
The whole ship is a buzz.
In order to officiate well, Kirk did some researching and found something very, very strange. In the wake of the whole world-saving gig, the crew has become... famous. They're being written about. And not always in flattering ways. In fact, they seem to have developed a fandom.
Of course, no one can contain their curiosity.
So people are sending around snippets of fanfic- from awful to awesome, from G to triple-X.
So- who is shocked by who they're shipped with? Who was a secret member of fandom when they were younger? And who is still writing?
And in the end, do Sulu and Chekov pull it off, or do they decide there's a better ship for them?
Thanks to Bubbles for the inspiration.

I'm sorry, that freaked you out, didn't it?
I have terrible timing.

Oh, Davey I'd be honored! I'd like nothing more than to help the two of you.
Oh, but you should hear him talk Dave. It's all about duty and responsibility and how the Fleet has these rules. I never would have taken Jim Kirk to be such a stringent rule-follower.

No one else could get me this far. It was always you, wasn't it?
On my way. Can we have a rampage?

You do, and yes I am freaked out but it's not entirely your doing.
And it really does explain a lot.

I mean, you've got a few years to think on it.
It makes sense, though. At his heart, he's still a wild kid. And he wants what he wants. You. Like I said, you stupid bitch. Maybe the rules thing is jsut for comms? To cover his ass?

No one else could get me this far this fast. It had to be you, baby. It's always been you.
Whatever you want.

I don't need it. The answer is yes. Whenever you two are ready. Just let me know.
Now we're going to have dinner in his quarters so we can discuss things....PRIVATELY.

I like you for your occasional gaps in knowledge, because you're so keen to fill them. And you are exciting, Pav. All of us think we're boring, but we're not really. I wouldn't trade anyone for you. I love you.
My turn: I think that we have issues in the bedroom which we haven't really spoken about to save face.

Hikaru, I want you to fuck me. We have not done this for a long time, yes? But I would like for that to happen again, if you would like it as well.
Note on Janice Rand's plate, Captain's Mess
Date: 2010-05-20 02:23 pm (UTC)I want you.
But wanting you could lead me to lose everything. Even telling you this is dangerous.
If you were going to be with me, it would have to be a secret. You couldn't tell anyone, not even Galloway. It would have to be our secret.
I would like a secret with you.
I have no doubt that my quarters are bugged. Pike knows me to well not to. This would be all clandestine meetings in dark corridors, secret signs and veiled innuendo. We couldn't even talk about it over comms.
I know this is asking too much. So I won't. But if I come back with food and you're sitting on this side of the table, we'll start a conversation about it. Other side or not here at all, and I'll drop it.
You probably have questions. Writing is safe, or should be. If not, I'm already fucked. If we need to talk-talk, call our being together "The Project" and I'll understand.
Whatever you decide, you are beautiful.
Jim

Date: 2010-05-20 04:35 pm (UTC)Unknown: Hi. Dinner is served.
Unknown: Hi. I noticed. Do you need help with those plates?
Kirk, J: No, I got it. So. Um. You got anything you need to say?
Rand, J: I read your note. How long...how long have you felt this way about me?
Kirk, J: I've always felt you were a very capable yeoman, and I am lucky to have you. I didn't start to realize your... specific strengths until about six months ago. But they, uh, they grow stronger every day. Wine?
Rand, J: Yes please. You don't have to be nervous you know. And yes, you are nervous. I've learned how to read you over the past few years, you know. I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised. I didn't think you would ever be interested. No one else was. I thought you were...out of my league, so to speak.
Kirk, J: Well. It's not every day I tell my yeoman how much I appreciate her. I deserve some nerves. And I'm selfish; I'm glad no one else ever saw your talent. But, about The Project. Any feelings there?
Rand, J: Oh, yes. The Project. I believe that it would be mutually beneficial for us to begin The Project as soon as possible. I am aware of what it would require, but I think it would be um. Certainly be worth any risks that we may assess.
Kirk, J: Wait, really?
Rand, J: Well, yes. What did you think I was going to say?
Kirk, J: I thought you were going to say the risks were too great. And that the conditions were too restrictive and all that. Also I'm a pain in the ass.
Rand, J: With all due respect, sir, with great risk comes great promise. And I do have my own set of restrictions that I would like to put upon The Project. And yes, you are a pain in the ass. But you are a pain in the ass that knows how to make me smile.
Kirk, J: What are your restrictions?
Rand, J: No outside consultants. This project is between the two of us solely. In cases of Federation security or the safety of the ship or yourself, I suppose that will have to be discussed, preferably prior to the occurrence. Though I do understand that circumstances may arise where you may be out of contact from the ship, and in those instances I shall trust your judgment on the matter. And I...expect you to put your safety and that of the ship above this, if you should ever have to choose between that and The Project.
Kirk, J: Of course. I expected that. Anything else you need, from the project?
Rand, J: Nothing I can think of at the moment. I suppose needs will have to be assessed and altered based upon the project's course.
Kirk, J: And if you feel the need to get help from, say, Galloway, if problems arise in the project, then you can. If you trust him. I don't want you to feel cut off because of it. And I'll need you not to transfer for the duration.
Rand, J: For the security of the project, I think it would be best if we tried to keep it between ourselves. But I will keep that in mind, thank you. And the same goes for you and Doctor McCoy. That's understood. And I suppose you should know, it is several years away, but when Dave and Roger finally decide they are ready to have children, they have asked that I assist them with that. I'm not sure how long you anticipate this project lasting, but I think you should know about that in advance, in case it would affect your decision to pursue the project as a long term thing.
Kirk, J: That doesn't change anything for me. Makes me admire you more, mostly. That's very sweet of you. And I see this as a very long-term thing. Maybe permanent. But you'll have a say in that, of course. Now, there were some papers you wanted to go over. Shall we retire to your quarters?
Rand, J: That...I would like that. Yes, I think you're right. We should definitely move to my quarters. Now.
Kirk, J: Yes, ma'am.

Nyet. Should I be concerned of something he has to say?

I didn't mention it because you didn't mention it. I didn't think you liked it; I mean, there's prep and then there's prep and I wasn't entirely sure whether I was getting you ready or coaxing you into something you didn't want.
No. He knows nothing of any value.

I wanted it. I would like it very much if on our wedding night you would carry me into our quarters and deflower me like a virgin. I mean, that is if you still wish to get married to me.
Of course he does not. I shall not ask him anything then even though I am certain you are lying to me Hikaru ;)

Christ, I wish we had talked about this stuff before. Did you know you're impossible to read? I thought you only liked doing me. I made it into such a big deal in my head; I didn't understand why. And then you started with all this wife crap and, well, I though you might be hinting that I'm not your type, If you understand what I mean.
Fuck it, that sounds stupid now.

Yes that does sound stupid. And you are just as impossible to read Hikaru. You are very much my type and I have enjoyed everything we have done together. I thought perhaps that it was not good for you? And so I did not want to push it.
