Since we're totally all Septic Yankee Scum around here (and the HSAU is winding down for the time being) I was thinking:
American Thanksgiving. An excuse to watch American Football, eat way too much food, and pretend you don't hate your family. (Unless you like your family. Then you're a communist.)
In the rebootverse, where the Federation is basically AMERICA.. BUT BETTER! I would like to posit that Thanksgiving is the memorial day for those who died in the Battle of Vulcan.
So. The Enterprise is in orbit around Earth. The crew is down on the planet. It has now been 1 year since the fight with the Romulans.
What is everyone thankful for? Who are they with? And was turkey really inwented in Russia?

It's like they forgot about what he was like at the Academy, that he stowed away, basically mutinied against Spock and was a dick in three languages all because he saved the world. Single handedly. No one else did any damn thing.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's a good captain, but I wish he wasn't so BELOVED. Like a pet dog.

We. My family. Father was ambassador to Vulcan all my life. Half my childhood was on Vulcan, some of my closest friends were Vulcans. A lot of them were on the planet. I can't handle this right now, I can't go to some fake memorial that's just some new way to celebrate Captain Big Damn Hero. I won't do that to them.

Yeah. Pavel told me they actually sealed the record with his Kobayashi Maru tests in it. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. JAMES KIRK WOULD NEVER CHEAT, JUST LOOK AT HIS BLUE EYES.
I don't know. He's complicated. He must think I'm a moron, the kind of guy who would leave the parking break on and he must use wery small vords on.
