Hello!
So I've been superbusy with work and moving and not having internet at home and writing a McKenna/Giotto fic with [livejournal.com profile] bubbles_san so I've been ignoring this comm a little.

To make it up to you, I made a poll!

The first question asks if you're a reader or a writer. By this, I mean "do you only read, or do you sometimes play?" because I assume you're reading if you're writing. You'd be very confused if you weren't.

Anyway, on with the poll:
[Poll #1433708]

What I mean with the last one is: right now, we have a weekly post of alt.enterprise.gossip along with the other, more sporatic challenges and round robins. What if, every month, I took a popular theme from the last few weeks and made it the new weekly thing? So, next month would be genderswap or TOS. We'd keep playing in those worlds until it was time to change. You guys could even have oppinions about them!
(Because I can stop you from doing that now?)

I have plans for a new callenge either tomorrow or Friday, but I'm curious to see what you all are thinking now.

Also, would there be interest in a friending meme?

The question isn't whether he's competent enough to be a hero, it's whether he has the experience needed to run an entire ship for five years in space, with next-to-no in put from outside.

Chekov was in his- I think maybe fifties?- at the time that happened, so he's far more than a child. He's got experiences of his own under his belt, and anyway, I meant that just as an example of the attitude generally directed at Kirk re: lifesaving, not as an isolated incident. Kirk managed to kill off half his crew in just three seasons and everyone still acts like he's this giant hero just because he kept seven or eight specific people alive for five years.

What's the deal with Chekov remaining an Ensign after all he did in the film?! He was smarter than Spock and should totally have been made a lieutenant!

He's not Kirk, therefore, the universe doesn't bow to his whims.

I'm going! I'm going! Also, Spock totally wasn't about to listen. He probably was all "...Actually, Captain, I am far too busy and I think you should get someone else to do it."

Yeah, but to take her out Spock would have to touch her and he'd get a whiff of her strong very-much-on-the-surface emotions and no one wants that.

This is why Giotto spent most of their time on the Farragut trying to steal her for Security.

That didn't stop him trying. He's currently also trying to recruit Chekov. He will eventually succeed.

Yes, but canonically, Chekov became Chief of Security after Giotto left/retired/got killed/something.

I'm working on it. Besides, talking helps me think.
