In the world you are entering, there is a Federation. There is an Enterprise. There is even a Captain Kirk.

But in this world, they are not as you know them.

George Lowther, 27, is the captain of the pirate ship known throughout the galaxy as the Enterprise. Of course, he's not the real George Lowther, and neither was the man before him, a fellow called Chris Pike. They're in the process of trading the identity, so Pike can retire, having made his fortune. The new Lowther, real name James T. Kirk, has hired on a crew, and they're off on their first voyage, affiliated with the Federation of Interstellar Pirates.

So. How's the crew doing? And, of course, who's fucking?

A degree in business or something else dull I think I like the idea of the English degree, but I would actually perform better in the History program. So I think I would get more out of, and be better served by the History degree. But I want to be a good writer and an English degree isn't totally useless.

I keep thinking myself in circles.

NGL, History and English were always my favorite subjects to the point that my high school History teacher and my college History professor have both said I'd do well on a History degree and I considered it for a while, but I went with an English degree because that's what makes me happiest. So what you gotta think of is not what will make you more successful, but what will make you happier, both now and in ten years. If that's History, go that route, but if it's English, pick that one. There's no reason you can't take courses for the other for your electives, after all.

I'm not really worried about happiness so much as which I'll be able to find work with. There's a lot of museums in the area that I could find work with. And electives aren't really open for me, the most I could fit in with either degree while still finishing in a decent amount of time would be 6 hours.

You know what? I'm putting more focus on choosing my elective classes than I am on choosing the ones for my degree, because I have to take my degree classes no matter what and if I'm smart with my electives, I'll have a broader range of information to learn.

Well I'm on financial aid so I really don't have any wiggle room.

Yeah, I talked to my guidance couselor about it at the beginning of the semester and explained that because I love to write Science Fiction, I was going to make sure and take many science classes so I'd have a basis for what I was writing (and she said it was a good idea), and then I thought, I also write stuff that has a basis in Mythology, and sometimes History, etc, etc, and I realized if I take a wide variety of electives, I'll have at least laid the groundwork for many of the subject matters I might choose to include in my writing, and also I love learning sutff.

What would make me happy would be if I had an infinite amount of money and could be in school forever, lol. I'll just have to think some more I guess. Thanks.

Hey, now you sound like me! I've actually said several times that if I could make a living by being a student I'd go for it. Like this movie I saw once! This guy had a rich relative die and leave him a kaboodle of money that he could only access as long as he was in college. He was like, fifty years old and he was still in college because he kept going back for one degree after another, using the money to pay for his schooling and his living. That'd be my kind of life!

Fair enough. Writing's the only thing I've ever really wanted to do so that made it a little easier for me, but you gotta go with what works for you, right? We all have to figure things out our way and not someone else's, right?
