Side Game: OMG WEDDING

"Since the days of the first wooden vessels, all ship masters have had one happy privilege: that of uniting two people in the bonds of matrimony."

In TOS, Kirk was happy to marry two of his crewmen. In TNG, when Keiko and O'Brien were getting married, Data worried about finding a gift. So it's not unheard of for crewmen to marry.

Three years into the voyage, after the Narada, two crewmembers, Hikaru Sulu and Pavel Chekov, have decided to take the plunge.

The whole ship is a buzz.

In order to officiate well, Kirk did some researching and found something very, very strange. In the wake of the whole world-saving gig, the crew has become... famous. They're being written about. And not always in flattering ways. In fact, they seem to have developed a fandom.

Of course, no one can contain their curiosity.

So people are sending around snippets of fanfic- from awful to awesome, from G to triple-X.

So- who is shocked by who they're shipped with? Who was a secret member of fandom when they were younger? And who is still writing?

And in the end, do Sulu and Chekov pull it off, or do they decide there's a better ship for them?

Thanks to Bubbles for the inspiration.

That asshole. No, don't kill him, I have a better idea. What say we both come to "keep him company" while he's actually on shift later?

How about the other hundreds of times we've had shower sex?

And, listen, I didn't want to bring this up over comm, but I just want to make sure - you don't think I baby you, do you? I mean, when I call you baby, it's not because I think you are a baby, it's just the thing I say.

Yes, that's brilliant, lets watch him squirm. Then we can kill him and make it look like an unfortunate but typical red-shirt accident. We always did work well together. Maybe that's what an otp is?

Of course not. Why would I be? We both agreed that this wasn't going to be a serious relationship. Neither of us want that.

Right?

This is going to be fun. Hm, maybe. I've considered looking it up, but I'm a little scared to.

Humans have that problem- when we get what we want, we often don't like how we got it or don;t want it anymore.

Yogi Bear. Look it up.

Those do not count. We need a recent experience in order to compare properly.

I know you do not think I am a baby Hikaru. If you did, I would be very concerned about the sort of things we do in our quarters.

We've been in it for a year and we're neither of us seeing anyone else. I thought it was a kinda long-haul thing at this point. But if you don't want that, I can be wrong.

Yesterday wasn't recent enough?

Ok. That's good, then. I was just worried. Forget it.

Then having is not always so pleasing a thing as wanting.

I do not understand this at all.

Yes, yes it is. Or, instead of killing him, we, uh, take the lead from the stuff you've been sending me. Turn fiction into fact if you get my drift. We could ask Riley if we ever want to find out, he's gotten a bit obsessed over it all.

You should read the number of times one of my plants attacks him in a sexy way.

Also, I caved and told him about it. So you don't have to judge me anymore.

I'm not sure. I think I'm getting nerves. I'm still not sure I'm going to treat you with everything you deserve. I mean, it's weird to think, but we only have one life, don't we? We're getting married really young; I just don't want to rush into something you can't get out of.

I have maybe one plant which might put you in that particular position, but it would kill you seconds later. I wouldn't advise it.

Also:

Rog, I caught myself kissing the top of your head the second time we slept together. I never had a chance.

But we got this kids thing between us. We need to figure it out or this won't work.

I don't know what to tell you. Things are a lot better when you imagine them then they are in reality. Imagine, say, before you and Uhura were together. Did you think things would go better than they did?

No! Of course I want to marry you. I love you; I want to be with you for the rest of my life.

I'm just not sure that you want to marry me.

Fuck, I feel like such an idiot. Forget I said anything.
